Trainers and evaluators must have the knowledge, training and experience to teach operators and evaluate their competence. A course certificate alone does not establish those qualifications. Relevant previous training may count under 29 CFR 1910.178(l)(5); the employer remains responsible for operator competence and the certification record. The bundle includes the $149 online Forklift Trainer Certification course and the $399 Employee Training Kit: printed curriculum, PowerPoint and USB drive. Bought separately they cost $548; the $499 bundle saves $49. The trainer course helps prepare your designated trainer, who must also have the knowledge, training and experience required by OSHA. ### Do I need both, or is one of them enough on its own? If you already have a qualified trainer and need operator materials, choose the kit. If you also need to prepare a trainer, the bundle supplies the course and the kit together. Course completion alone does not establish the required experience. Individual operators can explore operator training through our checkout instead of purchasing an employer training package. ### Who runs the training once I have the bundle? Someone you designate. Under 29 CFR 1910.178(l)(2)(iii), operator training and evaluation must be conducted by a person with the knowledge, training and experience to train powered industrial truck operators and evaluate their competence, and the employer decides who that person is. There is no OSHA license or approval for trainers, and no outside body that certifies them. The trainer certification in this bundle is how you give your designated person that knowledge and a record of the training behind it. ### How long does it take to get an operator certified? The classroom part is quick; the whole thing is not finished at a desk. 29 CFR 1910.178(l)(2)(ii) splits operator training into three parts: formal instruction, practical training, and an evaluation of the operator's performance in the workplace. The bundle covers the formal instruction and gives your trainer the material and checklists for the rest, but the practical training and the evaluation happen on your floor with your trucks. Only after all three is the operator certified, and under 29 CFR 1910.178(l)(6) the employer records the operator's name, the date of training, the date of evaluation, and who performed them. ### How many operators does the bundle cover? As many as you have. The bundle is a one-time purchase with no fee per operator and no annual fee, and the kit's materials can be printed and reused for new hires and for the three-year operator re-evaluation required by 29 CFR 1910.178(l)(4)(iii). The trainer certification covers one designated trainer. ### Which forklift classes does the bundle cover? The kit's curriculum covers warehouse forklifts in classes 1, 4 and 5 (electric, gas, diesel and LPG), order pickers and pallet jacks in classes 2 and 3 (high-lift straddle, side loaders and stock pickers), and rough-terrain forklifts in class 7 (straight mast and telescopic).
